Nothing Better For Chicken!

If you love comfort food, you will adore the Chicken Lady--she comes with a few rules and quirks so pay attention to what everyone says about her before you go :)

First of all, she's only open for a few hours a day (full time she does catering for the stars), don't try to swing by because you'll be bummed when you see a closed sign at 4 pm. The menu is streamlined but amazing--make sure you ask for her daily specials and always always taste the samples that she passes around--a few weeks ago she made a cheese pie (I had never heard of it either) and passed it around samples to everyone, it was epic.

The last time I went I was with a friend and we were hungry, we let our eyes do the ordering. The portions are huge--my friend and thought we'd try a bunch of things (2 orders of Chicken Strips, Beans, Mac & Cheese, Crab cakes, etc.) and we ended up with enough food to feed France. You have to get the Chicken Strips--they're a must have as is the Mac & Cheese. When you see all the photos of Hollywood stars plastering the walls it will make you feel a little better as you're consuming all those calories that 1/2 of Los Angeles is just as obsessed with the Chicken Lady as you are.

Wokcano is great "working late" need delivery food

I wouldn't advise going there for a long quiet dinner, the interior is just ok (nice but nothing special) but the delivery is pretty quick and it's the go-to for a lot of folks in the area. Rolls are great, I usually get the Green dragon roll and the standard CA roll, also the garden salad is huge with a great creamy dressing. I'd recommend checking this out, no doubt there are higher quality sushi places in the area but it's still really solid.
Enjoy!

I love love China Palace!

First of all, don't be nervous by the exterior--it does look a little low budget but the food is absolutely worth it (they also have remarkably quick take-out if you want to swing by and pick it up). My favorite dishes to order here are eggrolls, orange chicken, the mixed veggies, fried rice with shrimp, and the chicken chow mein. The portions are huge and everything tastes really fresh, great take-out for a quiet movie night with friends. I would dare to say it's the best to-go/ quick Chinese food I've ever had.

Enjoy!

Great spot for business lunches

Last week I went to lunch at Amici, I hadn't been there in about four years but it's within walking distance of my office so--with a big group of hungry people--we decided to give it a try. We all ordered starters (even though they actually "start" you with yummy rosemary flatbread for the table)--almost everything on the menu is fantastic, I ordered a baby artichoke salad with hearts of palm that was delicious, others ordered a few different soups which all looked great. Amici has incredible pasta but if you're looking for something a little lighter at lunch they have tons of fish dishes to choose from. For a main course I ordered the salmon over lentils--the portion was huge and very very good. There were a few things that others ordered that I would definitely try if when I go back including the Lobster ravioli and the Lasagna. I'd highly recommend Amici--especially if you're hungry. It's fairly quiet but there's a lovely courtyard so if the weather is nice (as it so often is in LA) it's a perfect spot for lunch.
Enjoy!
