Pretty damn awesome for a chain

Gotta admit...never had a bad meal here. The steaks are consistently perfect, the sides are tasty and plentiful, the drinks (sha...I am ALL about drinks) are strong and delicious.

I was impressed more with the place when you could still smoke, but I've come to expect the no-smoking crap. Still, it's a really good place to eat, very reasonably priced and the service rocks, I have to admit.

Go take the kids...or the spouse. You'll have a great meal and time either way.

I freakin' LOVED this place. Awesome food, super-strong drinks, and the best staff you could ask for. I will so miss The Burly Earle. :( I about cried when I drove by and there was a "For Lease" sign in the door.


It was the best place in Southside when it was there. The food was reasonably priced, the drinks and beer were cold, cheap and plentiful in alcohol content and dammit...it just sucks that's it's not there anymore.

Closed

Went out of business. They were expensive and had toy food anyway. I was amazed they lasted as long as they did.

Good but not cheap

It's ok. They have a very extensive sushi menu, but I'll be honest here. It all tasted the same to me. I was not impressed by the service, either. Too rushed and too hard to get once they left you.


This place is NOT cheap. Especially for what I consider trite, bland sushi. Your experience may be different.

LOVE this place

It's been around since...well a long time and I LOVE this place. Took me years to even get around to eating there, but once I did, I kicked myself for not going sooner.


They have EVERYthing. The banana pancakes are simply delectable, no instant grits (yay!!), eggs done to perfection, and good hot coffee. I gain five pounds just thinking about eating there, and while it's not Waffle House inexpensive, it is certainly not a budget-killer. Next time I go, I'm trying the crepes (I am serious when I say they have everything, and it's all FRESH as it can be without still being alive) and maybe a gourmet coffee or twelve.


Try this place out whenever you're in the mood for a great breakfast. They have lunch stuff too, but I would skip that for a breakfast. I'm pretty sure they close at 2PM, so hurry up and get there since they're almost always packed. Great food, great service.

Under new owner

I am not even sure if it's back open or not, but OT no longer is the owner. This place used to be THE place to go for great food, awesome drinks, and hanging out with friends either after work, for lunch, or on the weekends. I will miss the steak sandwich; they have a 'new' variation on it that I haven't heard fabulous things about.


The woman that owns it now used to be a server there (I am totally forgetting her name) and is revamping it completely. I may go back to see if she has kept the charm intact. I know "Mama" is still the cook, so maybe she's going to maintain the OT atmosphere in all respects.
Everybody hopes so!

It USED to be great

But now it's closed, or rather, not Lakeview Oyster House anymore. Same guy that owned it changed it into Moe's Original Barbeque. From what I have heard in the past, though, it was awesome. A bit expensive for my admittedly poor wallet, but really good.


I have heard many lament its passing.
